Tips for Conducting Virtual Showings

Get Familiar with the Technology
There are a variety of video conferencing platforms that you can use to showcase your home. If you want to walk a potential buyer through your home in real time, consider what platform you want to use; FaceTime, Google Duo, and Highfive are good options. Or, for a more permanent solution, do a video walk-through of your home and have Purplebricks upload it to YouTube for prospective buyers to view.

Tidiness Still Matters
Tidy and clean your home like you would for an in-person showing, so you can showcase your home in the best light possible. Because you will be walking a potential buyer through your home via video, be sure to keep any distractions out of sight or earshot. This means turning televisions off and putting kids and pets in one room.

Be Honest
The prospective buyer is putting a lot of trust in you to show them the home with an honest eye. They aren’t there in person to see any dents in the walls, or perhaps a missing light fixture. When walking them through the home, point out any areas you would want to see if you were buying a home virtually, even the less desirable ones.

Be Prepared
Typically a REALTOR® walks potential buyers through a home, not the sellers. This means when you are conducting the showings, think about what types of questions a REALTOR® typically answers about a home. Questions regarding square footage, lot size, features and finishes, included items, and property tax amount are pieces of information you should know.
